A Love Letter.
It’s February. The month of love.
And this year marks twenty years of marriage for Joe and me. He’s currently stuck in New Jersey in a snowstorm, which feels wildly unfair given that we chose Chandler for the sunshine. But it gave me a quiet moment to think about love. Real love. The kind that shows up. The kind that invests. The kind that stays.
And it hit me.
I have a love letter I want to read tonight. Not to my husband. But to my city.
Dear Chandler,
I love you.
I love your neighborhoods filled with kids riding bikes and families walking dogs at dusk. I love our small businesses that take risks and pour their life savings into a dream. I love our parks, our teachers, our first responders, our diversity, our grit.
I love that ordinary people here do extraordinary things.
Joe and I did not just move here. We invested here. We built businesses here. We raised our children here. We volunteer here. We serve here. We chose you on purpose.
And when you love something, you protect it.
When you love something, you take care of it.
When you love something, you help it grow responsibly.
My platform is simple because love is simple.
I will advocate for strong public safety because safe families matter.
I will protect and enhance our quality of life because once you lose that, it is hard to get back.
I will support our local businesses because they are the heartbeat of this city.
But more than policies, I promise you this:
I promise to respect you.
I promise to listen.
I promise to show up.
I promise to make decisions based on what is right, not what is loud.
I promise to protect your future while honoring your foundation.
Love is not passive. It is active. It requires courage. It requires boundaries. It requires vision.
And Chandler, I love you enough to do the hard work.
I am not running for a title. I am running because I believe in this place. I believe in the people who call it home. I believe we can grow without losing who we are.
So tonight, in the month of love, consider this my public promise.
I choose you.
And if you choose me, I will serve you with integrity, strength, and heart.
Happy Valentine’s Month, Chandler.
