A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Campaign Heroes
To whom this may concern,
I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported my campaign. Your dedication, hard work, and belief in our vision for a better Chandler have been truly inspiring. I’ll never forget the cheerleading, the volunteering, and the grassroots movement we built together. I am so much richer for your support and friendship.
To my husband Joe and our children, you are my heart. Thank you for giving me grace, for your unwavering love and encouragement, and for helping me with this campaign. I love you more than words can express.
Next, my friend Care. Care, you have been rock solid. From producing all our fundraising events to being an amazing and loyal campaign manager, I don’t know what I’d do without you. You are the epitome of "ride or die," and I am so blessed to have you by my side.
First, Aliyah and Toni. They helped set up for several events and they have been tirelessly dropping off literature to homes. And, let’s not forget, they've been my go-to translators when my Spanish fell short. Gracias, amigas!
Pictured Bonnie and Andrew.
Rikki, KT, and Bonnie (and Andrew!), my dear friends, thank you for your incredible support. From the flowers you sent, showing up at events, donating, being cheerleaders, helping get signatures, and encouraging me when I needed it most. I love you ladies with all of my heart and know we will grow old together.
Danie, thank you for attending all the events, donating in-kind and working the streets. You are always so supportive of my “adventures” and I love you for it. (and thank you Eric, not pictured, specifically about that story of Abe Lincoln. I’ll hold that dear)
Derek, thank you for advocating for me and being so generous to the campaign. I’m so glad I can count on you as a friend. Christopher is lucky to have you.
To Jenny and Bart, what a wonderful relationship we have developed since we met while I was gathering signatures. I can't thank you enough for your support, passion, and words of encouragement. You have been great volunteers for this campaign.
Luis, (pictured middle), thank you for your knowledge, friendship and enthusiasm!
Cameron, it was a godsend to meet you last year at that training and I see in you a lifelong friend. Watching you make an incredible impact in the world has been inspiring. You deserve to be in leadership, and I will support you in your endeavors. Thank you for being a champion for me and for our city!
Alice and your fantastic family, thank you for hitting the streets hard promoting my name and dropping off literature in this grueling heat. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I am so grateful for your support.
Elena, for being a cheerleader for me and helping me with my online presence. You have shown up for me big time and pushed me with a "you can do this, amiga" and I'll never forget it.
Adriana, to my girl that is a safe place where I can be vulnerable with and most importantly we can laugh together. Thank you for showing up for me as well and making me feel confident on the outside and inside. Love you, Chica. (and Liliana and Emilia - I guess Erik too ;))
Cayla, your “yes we can” attitude is infectious. Your assistance with canvassing, video, and photo has been invaluable. You’ve taken on every challenge with a smile, and I can’t thank you enough for your dedication and hard work. I look forward to what’s in store for your future and want to be a part of it! (pictured here is her baby boy, Geremiah standing tall since she was always behind the camera)
Gretchen, I have known you for over 20 years and for you to show up like you did for me during this campaign has touched my heart big time. I love you, friend!
and Kristine, I am so happy we have spent more time together and have laughed uncontrollable time and time again. Thank you also for being there for me.
Rob and Eelco, my neighbors and die-hard supporters from the beginning. Your volunteering, hosting, and contributions on all levels have been incredible. Thank you for being such wonderful friends and supporters.
Tanya, my dear friend. A big chunk of my fundraising assistance has been because of your help. We've worked together for 18 years in the event planning business, and you took this idea on as your own, offering to host this evening. I love you, and I am so proud of the strong business owner you are. You, and your entire team inspire me. Thank you for your time, generosity, passion, and creativity tonight. (pictured above is her awesome space that she donated for our last fundraiser - since we didn’t get a picture together)
To Liv and the ASU students that helped me with my campaign, you are our future and I am honored to hear from you and to work beside you on this campaign. Thank you for your trust in me and working so hard to help me gather the signatures and promote this campaign. I know our future is brighter with you in it.
Thank you to these three stooges for helping me get the lit on the doorsteps in the heat and the parents who shared them with me.
I want to give a special shout-out to Will, who has been a friend for almost 20 years. Will, you are the most creative and genius graphic artist I know. When I made the call to ask for help, you were so quick to step in. Love you and your girls so much. Thank you for your incredible support and talent.
To my sister-in-law Kerry and brother Bill, (in the middle). Not only have you opened your home to gather neighbors, donated, attended all my events but have also put up signs and put out hundreds of my flyers to peoples homes in this heat. I love you both, and I’m so grateful for your support.
Thank you to my brother Ernie for telling others how awesome his sister is and how proud he is of me and showing up to all the events. Love you, man! (not pictured) Also, thanks for sharing your birthday with me too!
My sister Moriah, who volunteered with me on her birthday, thank you for being a fantastic cheerleader when I needed it most. Your dedication and love are unmatched. Thank you to my bro-in-law Joe C (not pictured) too! Love you, man!
To my mom, for encouraging me to not let fear and the unknown deter me from doing something great. Your faith in me started this journey. (pictured right)
Portion of my California Family. (Fafa, Dad, and Aunt Tina - not pictured is family friend Vicki)
My New Jersey Family - (Dean, Darlene and Jules),
Portion of my New Jersey family. My awesome nephew Zach who has helped tremendously, especially with his baseball muscles.
To my family that flew in from out of town from California to New Jersey, thank you and I am in awe of your enthusiasm and support. You worked the polls and told me you believed in me. I know it was a bummer when I didn't win, but you gave me a shoulder to lean on and I am grateful for your unwavering love. To my Dad who donated and showed up for me in more ways than one. You are my hero.
Dave, my fantastic friend and our emcee for three of my events. You are the funniest and most sensitive human I know. Your unwavering support and incredible emcee skills always bring life to our events. Thank you for being such a wonderful cheerleader and friend.
To the printer vendor who printed all of our signs and accommodated our last-minute needs, the staff was always fair and trustworthy to get the job done as a trusted partner. Thank you for your dedication and reliability. If anyone needs a great printer ask me as I am happy to refer!
To all those that invested in the campaign, we raised more money the other five non-incumbant candidates, and I am so honored and proud of that. Thank you for your investment in me and know that I spent every dime with the utmost respect and promise to still put in work into our community.
To all those that endorsed me publicly, thank you for your kind words and belief in me. Many of you invested in my campaign as well to which I am in awe of. I will never forget you for taking a chance on an ordinary person.
To my campaign consultant and his amazing staff, you have been a joy to work with and have been patient with me while I work through the learning of it all. Thank you for your encouragement and guidance. I thank you for being the utmost professionals.
To our city police and fire departments, your endorsement means the world to me. Your investment in our community and volunteerism is deeply appreciated. I know it didn't turn out how we both expected but I am not going anywhere and will continue to show up but it will just be a little different...for now. Thank you for being pillars in our community, putting up my signs, investing in my campaign, listening to my vision of Chandler and sharing yours. I am most sad to not be there as a city official to advocate for you but I won't give up and will continue to work towards what is right to invest in you and your families.
To the Chandler Chamber of Commerce and all of the amazing Chandler businesses that I connected with, thank you for the forum and the pathway to the endorsement. I believe in the establishment and hope to continue our connections.
Thank you to my mentors who were in the background, who called me (sometimes daily), guided me, gave me advice, and helped me when I needed it most. I will never forget your faith and promise to work hard to not let that go to waste. Your knowledge has been incredible and I will use it for good. I haven't mentioned them by name as I want to hold their names close to my heart. They know who they are.
Lastly, to all my friends, family, neighbors, and new friends, you have shown up time and time again, donating collectively hundreds of hours and multiple times. Your belief in me is overwhelming, and I am forever in your debt. Thank you for being an example of how to give and for showing me that you believe in me.
Through this journey, I gained a wealth of information and education about our city, forged connections, and developed relationships with people I may have never met otherwise. I am proud to have shown my children that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to and that while scary things can be hard, hard things can indeed be done. I know in their minds and mine I have won.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the candidates on their victory. This chapter may be closing, but I will continue to serve Chandler through other avenues. Please stay connected with me, as I am a neighbor to all Chandler residents.
I have been an event planner and producer for 18+ years and have a big network in Phoenix but as a resident of Chandler I wasn't as connected. I knew my neighborhood and had a few city connections but one of the hardest parts of this journey was putting my name out there as someone that can be trusted with city decisions for residents, with residents. You guys, 15,000 people voted for me and I can now use that impact and influence for good. That's a win in itself and I am not going away. I will continue to work for the good of the community and show up. I have SO much to say and now I have a platform to say it and I thank you.
To all the coffees, lunches and cocktail dates I had with key stakeholders, business owners and residents of Chandler, I thank you for taking time to meet with me and know my heart. I am honored to now call you friend and continue to advocate for a high quality of life for all Chandler residents.
Today may not be my moment to represent on the dais but I will represent the city as a resident and volunteer of this great city. Thank you for your belief in me and supporting this campaign.
I want to make a special thank you to our GArt – as he was a grandfather figure to my kids and my mom’s partner and in his dying moments, he encouraged me about my campaign. We didn't always see eye to eye in politics, but he knew my heart. In this bipartisan race where folks are guarded and fearful that they might be voting for someone who they might not agree with nationally, I challenge you: when it comes to local elections, put the politics and party aside. Too many people asked what party I was affiliated with, and in a nonpartisan race, we have to focus on whether this person is going to do right by our community, period. Is this person someone I can trust and isn't looking to do this for personal gain? Is this person willing to learn, and what kind of heart do I sense from the candidate?
We need to bring integrity, a listening ear, and a heart to welcome all points of view back into our elections. A community of unity. Art, aka GArt, and I had hours of conversations about politics, and if he were with us, I am 100% confident he would not only have volunteered for me but would also have voted for me. If he and I can connect, so can others.
May we unite in unity and strengthen our community because of it.
I love you all, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together, we are making a difference. Thank you!
With all that I have to offer,
