I Didn’t Set Out to Run for Office
I didn’t wake up one morning and decide I wanted to be a politician.
I set out to serve my community.
I’m Cicely Rocha-Miller, and Chandler is home. It’s where my husband Joe and I are raising our kids. It’s where we’ve built friendships, businesses, and the rhythms of everyday life that make a place feel like it truly belongs to you.
Like so many families here, our lives revolve around the things that make Chandler special. Schools where teachers know our kids. Parks and fields where families gather on weeknights. Small businesses where the owner remembers your name. Neighborhoods where people still wave when they drive by.
For years, I’ve been working alongside neighbors, business owners, volunteers, and community leaders who care deeply about this city. Whether it’s planning community events, supporting local organizations, or simply showing up to listen, I’ve always believed that strong communities are built by people who choose to participate.
And over time, I kept hearing the same thing from residents across Chandler.
“I love Chandler, and I want to keep it that way.”
Those words stuck with me.
People would say it at community meetings. At the grocery store. On the sidelines of baseball games. At neighborhood gatherings. The message was always the same. Pride in our city. Gratitude for what we have. And a quiet concern about protecting it.
Chandler is growing, and growth brings opportunity. But it also brings responsibility. The responsibility to protect our neighborhoods. To support our police and firefighters who keep us safe. To make sure our small businesses continue to thrive. To plan thoughtfully so that the things we love about Chandler are still here for the next generation.
That’s when I realized something important.
If we want Chandler to stay the kind of place we love, we can’t just hope someone else takes care of it. We have to step up.
That’s why I’m running for Chandler City Council.
Not because I had political ambitions, but because I believe deeply in this community and the people who call it home. I believe in listening to residents. I believe in practical solutions. And I believe leadership should always remember who it works for.
My approach is simple.
Be present.
Listen first.
Work hard.
Advocate for the people.
Because the future of Chandler should be shaped by the people who live here.
And that includes you.
If you believe Chandler is worth protecting and strengthening for the next generation, I would be honored to have your support.
